New completion date for A12 roadworks in Suffolk
The A12 near Ipswich is now expected to be completed by the end of June. The project, between Four Sisters and Copdock involves resurfacing the road, renewing road signs, repairing drainage and upgrading safety barriers. Highways England Service Delivery Team Leader Aran Nugent, said:
“I appreciate this is frustrating news for drivers. By taking the extra time now and completing the job to a high standard, we can reduce the likelihood of future repairs. The work has taken longer than we anticipated because of various operational issues which has slowed down completing the work, and we postponed work over the Bank Holiday to help drivers setting off for the half-term break.”
Most of the work, including the speed limit, will be removed by mid-June then there will be finishing off work using lane closures only. The work is dependent on suitable weather conditions, and dates may be subject to further change.
